The Mother is an aspect of the Great Mother worshipped in the lands of the Empire. The Mother embodies Summer and Autumn, Motherhood, Transformation, Fertility and Womanhood. Icons of and shrines to Her are found in houses and kitchens throughout the Empire, and her temples dot the lands, especially in rural areas. The is pictured as a mature, motherly woman carrying a sheep, with a distaff embroidered on the collar of her gown. She is tanned, and has multicolored eyes.
Along the Lonely Coast, the Mother is invoked to ensure fertility in the fields. Icons made of wheat sheaves are posted at the cardinal points around a field, and sacrifices of wine there are made. Cats are considered the Mother’s emissaries, and are treated with consideration.
